A small press.
A familiar face.
Start a scan with the Space key. A deliberate little moment, so locking your Mac doesn’t immediately unlock it again.

with a little more intention.

MADE FOR THE EVERYDAY
You know that tiny pause before you get going?
Lunlo makes it feel a little more natural.
Start a scan with the Space key. A deliberate little moment, so locking your Mac doesn’t immediately unlock it again.
On-device recognition uses your Mac’s camera. No extra gadget. Sign in once to manage your Lunlo membership.
A convenience, with clear limits. A regular camera doesn’t offer the depth sensing of Face ID. Lunlo is less secure than Apple’s biometric unlock methods, and video spoofing remains a risk.
PERSONAL SHOULD STAY PERSONAL
Recognition happens right here.
Because getting into your Mac
shouldn’t mean sending yourself away.
A dedicated face model compares your face locally. Camera frames are processed in memory, without uploading them.
Your enrollment and saved password are encrypted locally. macOS Keychain protects the encryption key.
Authorize a session with Touch ID or your Mac password. Remove your enrollment and saved password whenever you choose.
A FAMILIAR FIRST HELLO
One guided setup.
Then a smaller interruption.
When the release opens, create your Lunlo account, start your plan, then install Lunlo and allow Camera and Accessibility access. Enable Input Monitoring for the Space trigger, or use the hover scan control.
Follow the face enrollment guide. Save your Mac password in the encrypted local vault and authorize your session. Test in Face Lab, then enable Face Unlock in General settings.
At the lock screen, start a scan. A matching face and liveness checks let Lunlo enter your saved password.
THE GOOD QUESTIONS
Subscriptions have not opened yet. When they do, eligible new subscribers can start a 3-day free trial with a payment card. After the trial, Lunlo automatically renews at $4.99 USD/month until canceled. Cancel from your account before the trial ends to avoid the first charge. If you’ve already used your trial, checkout shows the paid monthly plan.
No. Lunlo is an independent app that uses an RGB camera. It does not use Apple’s Face ID or its depth sensors. Camera-based recognition is less secure than Touch ID or Face ID, and liveness checks cannot reliably stop video spoofing.
After your face matches and liveness checks pass during an authorized session, Lunlo uses Accessibility access to type your saved Mac password into the existing lock screen. The password is encrypted locally; it is not sent to a server.
No. You still enter your password for FileVault, the first login after a restart, and whenever Lunlo isn’t running or its authorized session has expired. Your normal Mac password remains the fallback.
The upcoming 0.2.0 release targets Apple silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later, with a working camera. The public download is not available yet. Intel builds are not included. Camera, Accessibility, and optional Input Monitoring permissions must be set up on your Mac.
This is an early development build. It has not been notarized by Apple or independently security audited, and recognition and lock-screen behavior still need testing on your hardware. Treat it as a preview, keep your normal password available, and use Apple’s built-in unlock methods when security is your priority.
An updated source bundle will accompany the account-enabled release. Lunlo builds on the MIT-licensed Glance project, with its own branding and behavior changes. See the release and source notes. See the third-party notices for attribution and model information.
